Analysis of the match between Hamburger SV and FC Bayern München
In the most recent round, Bayern Munich caused a major shock by allowing Augsburg to come from behind and secure a 2-1 victory at Allianz Arena. This defeat marked the first loss for Vincent Kompany’s side in the 2025/26 Bundesliga season and ended their 27-game unbeaten streak carried over from last season.
However, this slip was not enough to shake the “Bavarian giants” at the top of the table. Bayern still sit comfortably in first place with 50 points, holding an 8-point lead over closest rivals Dortmund, maintaining full control of the title race.
More importantly, Bayern quickly regained their confidence. Ahead of their trip to Hamburg, they produced a convincing performance by beating PSV Eindhoven 2-1 in the Netherlands, finishing second in the 2025/26 Champions League qualifying round. Notably, Jamal Musiala scored his first goal since returning from injury.
These positive signals give Bayern strong psychological preparation for the clash against Hamburg. In contrast, the hosts are struggling through a worrying run of form, having gone five games without a win. In the last round, Hamburg barely threatened, managing only two shots in a goalless draw with St. Pauli.
Facing a Hamburg side that has failed to score in the last two matches, Bayern clearly have a strong chance of securing all three points, especially with historical results on their side. If they win again, the “Bavarian giants” will extend their winning streak against Hamburg to 11 consecutive games.
