Analysis of the match between Paris Saint-Germain and Lille
Both PSG and Lille enter the match at Parc des Princes after being eliminated from the French Cup. PSG suffered a surprising 0-1 home defeat to Paris FC, ending their hopes of a consecutive treble.
After the winter break, PSG returned with a hard-fought 2-1 victory over Paris FC in Ligue 1 and then defeated Marseille on penalties in the French Super Cup in Kuwait. However, Luis Enrique’s squad has yet to regain full form.
At Parc des Princes in Ligue 1, PSG remains unbeaten in their last 9 home matches, including 8 wins, giving them confidence against Lille, who have not beaten PSG in their last 9 encounters (7 losses, 2 draws).
Under the guidance of coach Bruno Genesio, Lille currently sits in the Ligue 1 Top 4 after 17 rounds, scoring 55 goals, only behind PSG and Marseille. However, Lille has lost their last 2 matches, ending a 4-game winning streak in Ligue 1 after a 0-2 home defeat to Rennes.
Poor form combined with their unfavorable record against PSG makes Lille likely to leave Parc des Princes empty-handed.
