Analysis of the match between Lille and FK Crvena zvezda
Lille OSC has faced Serbian clubs three times in European competitions, winning twice and losing once. However, in their most recent encounter in Serbia during the previous season’s Europa League qualifying round, the French side suffered a 0-1 defeat.
In that match, Lille was not outplayed, controlling possession well and creating more clear chances. Yet, inefficiency in attack prevented them from converting their dominance into goals. Ahead of this rematch, even playing at Stade Pierre-Mauroy, Lille’s form remains concerning, with only 1 win, 2 draws, and 6 losses in their last 9 matches across all competitions.
At home specifically, results have been poor: 1 win, 1 draw, and 3 losses in the last 5 games. On top of that, Bruno Genesio faces absences of several key players due to injuries. This provides an excellent opportunity for Crvena zvezda to gain an advantage in the first leg.
In contrast, the Serbian side is in excellent form. Under Dejan Stanković, they have won 5 and drawn 1 of their last 6 matches. Notably, away from home, they are unbeaten in 8 matches, with 7 wins and 1 draw, including 5 consecutive victories recently.
Given the current form, the most likely scenario is that visiting Crvena zvezda will achieve a favorable result.
